Ramblings of a thinker

Hi Y’ll

First thing, sorry for the Fav and Run this week as I am inundated with Deviants and it would have taken another week to get them down to a manageable level. Now I am happy that I can evaluate and comment as before.

This got me thinking. I want time to go out and take photographs, appreciate the images and if good enough share on dA. That is the objective of dA, I think but I seem to spend more time on dA with the protocol and nicety and not really admiring and appreciating others works. Am I doing something wrong?

The other evening I spent time meandering though the Landscape deviants, leaving the odd comment and faving, if it stood out, from the selection. It was a very satisfying experience and I felt good doing it. The following evening I attempted to catch up on my own site and I was thoroughly exhausted at the end, why?

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy dA and being a member of the community. I have made friends with many members and honoured that others have befriended me and would not want it any other way. So what is the balancing act of time spent on dA answering all comments that appear on your page or do you be selective to allow more time outside of dA.

Your thoughts on the subject would be much appreciative. :D

I think the majority of the folks here understand the "fav-and-run", because we all become pressed for time, sooner or later. So, no problem there.

Dividing your time between what you feel is needed here and the requirements of the "real world" will certainly be a day-to-day thing to determine. Only you, on that specific day, at that specific time can determine what is required.

No matter what they are, we must all learn to balance the things we love. As in any Circus balancing act, constant, rapid, minor (and, sometimes major) adjustments are necessary to remain on the high wire. The difference is how well we know the safety-net. Here, the net is composed of the people who love you, and our job and privilege is to catch you, should you over-balance at any time.

Just remember, "virtual" cheese won't keep your body fed, only real cheese will do that, so keep it real: Take care of what is required in the Real World, so there will be no "hunger pains" to distract you from your enjoyment of our world here.

Mercy, I do ramble on occasion.

Remember, I :+fav: what I love as my way of saying "Thanks" for sharing your work.

I spend a lot of time commenting and answering..but I kind of look at it as "dues" that I pay for the privelege of being part of this place and seeing the wonderful art people make, but I think I get more from having friends all over the world than anything else.

Be nice to everyone!

What you have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to you

don't feel bad Normie about doing a fav & run i have done this myself ( guilty shame)

look at each image properly and then decide do i comment fav or simply run on to the next one

Nice features Normie! :aww: Do not worry about "fav & run": I think most of dA members undestand that.

Yes dA is a great site, but it can be very time consuming. I have found I'm not able to keep up with other people journals, it is just too much.

As for favs, I have never minded favs without comments, I like getting favs :)

I am finding that i am spending way too much time Thanking people, i like to do it, but it really is not taking up fer too much time, i will have to change the way i do things on here.

Saying Thanks is polite but it also means less time looking at others peoples images which is what i started off doing here, also this time of year like most people i have more chores to get on with.

So things do need balancing out.

Do what feels right, depending upon the time that you have I think. To 'fav and run' is at least a glimpse of opiion, even without comment. :)
